An Idiot Abroad 2 which stars Karl Pilkington with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, has followed the success of the first series and has already sold in 62 territories.
Following its huge ratings on Sky 1HD, Mentorn International has sold the series to countries including: Network Ten in Australia, SVT in Sweden, Discovery in USA, NRK in Norway, TV3 in Denmark, ICT in Iceland, and Turner in Latin America, Planète (Canal +) in France, Sogecable in Spain, and Discovery in CEEMEA (Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa), as well as channels in Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, New Zealand and Asia. Discussions with broadcasters in Finland and Germany are also in advanced stages of negotiation.
Life’s Too Short, Ricky Gervais’ and Stephen Merchant’s latest sitcom follow up to The Office and Extras, is also an international hit with Mentorn International securing sales in 35 territories to date.
These include: Paramount Comedy in Spain, TVNZ in New Zealand, ABC in Australia, DBS in Israel, TV Norge in Norway, SVT in Sweden, TV2 in Denmark, as well as a number of in-flight deals. Mentorn International is also in advanced negotiations with HBO in Asia.
The seven-part observational comedy follows the day-to-day life of actor, Warwick Davis, who runs an agency for actors of a similar height. It also features cameo appearances from a host of Hollywood stars, such as Johnny Depp, Steve Carell, Liam Neeson and Helena Bonham Carter. Written, directed and executive produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who also co-star, the series was a hit both on BBC 2 in the UK and HBO in the USA.
